Have you ever noticed that in the book of Matthew we only get one account of Jesus after his resurrection? 😲
And get this: this one account includes the last words to his disciples before ascending to heaven, AND they drive the mission of the church to this day. ⛪
So, maybe we should pay attention.👀
Also known as “The Great Commission,” this is what Jesus said:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 😇
In these verses, we get command and we get promise. 📌
❓What are the commands?
✅ Baptize 💦
✅ Teach the scriptures 📚
These two commands go hand in hand. We should never emphasize one to the exclusion of the other. 🤝
❓Where is the promise?
Through baptism and teaching the word, this is how Jesus gives us faith AND sustains that faith. 🌟
And what is that faith in?
The promise of forgiveness, life, and salvation. 🎉
And he does all of this for you. ❤️
