📖 What do we learn about God, prayer, and true comfort in Psalm 4?
There are times when we go through distress and have anxiety 😟. What do we do? 🤔
👥 Talk to friends, which may help, but we may need more than that.
💬 Talk to a mentor: a pastor, a counselor, or a teacher.
But ultimately — they are powerless to do anything. 🤷♂️
God invites us to come to Him in prayer. 🙌 Does the Lord hear us?❓
The Lord hears because of your relationship with Jesus Christ — because He has covered your sin with His righteousness. ✝️
He listens to you, He comforts you, and He calms you in your distress. 🤗
He is the one who created you 🌍, loves you dearly ❤️, and invites you to come to Him with all of your cares and concerns, promising to hear you and give you comfort.
Is this just some sort of abstract idea of comfort? 🤔
Pray along with David in this psalm 🙏, in verses 6 and 7 especially, for the Lord to lift up the light of His face upon us 🌟 and to put joy into our hearts 💗.
We might try to find comfort in the things that the world finds comfort in, but all of those things can be taken away. That joy is fleeting. 🌪️
But the joy we have in Christ cannot be taken away. This is a joy that’s everlasting. ✝️
In summary…
✅ Yes, we have distress in this world.
✅ Yes, we can call upon God in prayer.
✅ Yes, He promises to hear us.
✅ Yes, He promises to comfort us.
✅ Yes, He gives us His peace
✅ Yes, He has delivered us from all of our distresses.
