📖 This psalm was the favorite psalm of our dear mother of the Reformation, Katerina von Bora, Dr. Luther’s wife. 👰
Luther encouraged Katie to read it to comfort her in her anxiety over his safety when he traveled.🧳
One verse worth highlighting is verse 5: “Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.” 🙏
We pray it in Luther’s morning and evening prayer. 🌅 🌙
This is a prayer that recognizes that everything is in Jesus’s hands. The message is, “Take care, for Jesus has everything under control.” ✨
📚 Historians say Katie Luther died reciting this psalm over and over again.
Here’s the takeaway: You’re going to keep having things to worry about in life and things that cause anxiety. 😔 But into the hands of Jesus you are committed. 🤲
He redeems you. He is your Lord, your faithful God, even when you are faithless.⚡️ He is faithful for he cannot deny himself.
🎵 Sing it. Mark, learn, and inwardly digest it, just like Katie did.
💫 Cling to Christ, not by any work of your own, but because you are Christ’s and he is yours forever.
❤️ Better than you clinging to him is the fact that he clings to you as he ushers you through the strife of this life to his joys immortal. 👑
